Chance of Bhopal-Type Accident Here ‘Remote’

WASHINGTON — Chances of a major accident in a U.S. factory with the same pesticide that killed 2,500 people in Bhopal, India, are “extremely remote,” the government said Friday.
At the same time, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration cited two plants with violations of standard safety regulations. The two firms--FMC in Middleport, N.Y., and Union Carbide in Woodbine, Ga.--have not yet responded.
