Feeding the Poor

Since sports figures, entertainers and entrepreneurs are demonstrating their desire to raise funds to help the underfed populations of other countries, why can’t they be motivated to do the same for our own? Maybe we should start showing our growing numbers of the poor and underfed on TV with a celebrity appealing for our involvement? Surely, if we can spend millions for others why can’t we be charitable to our needy?
