Laird, Strauss to Head Campaign Study Panel

WASHINGTO — Republican Melvin R. Laird and Democrat Robert S. Strauss will head a new Commission on National Elections that will study the campaign process from advertising to exit polling, the Georgetown Center for Strategic and International Studies announced Tuesday.
Laird, former defense secretary and congressman, and Strauss, former U.S. trade negotiator and Democratic Party chairman, will lead the 25-member bipartisan commission in the one-year study.
