UCSD Rallies to Beat U.S. International
LA JOLLA — UC San Diego scored five runs in the fifth inning to break a 6-6 tie and defeat U.S. International, 11-6, Wednesday at Olsen Field. The game was called after six innings because of darkness.
Triton right fielder Bob Natal was 2 for 4 and drove in 4 runs--3 on a fifth-inning home run. Left fielder Jim Martin, who had two hits and three RBIs, hit a two-run homer in the fifth. The Tritons (7-2-1) had 14 hits.
Second baseman Phil Zimmerman had three hits and drove in three runs for USIU (1-6).
David de Cordova (3-1) earned the victory after pitching the last two innings in relief of UCSD starter Dan Healy. Rian Long was the loser for the Gulls.
