10 Strike Outs Put CLC Over Baptist, 12-2
Freshman pitcher Dan Meltreger made his first start for the Cal Lutheran College baseball team a memorable one.
The left-hander allowed only four hits and struck out 10 in seven innings Thursday as the visiting Kingsmen defeated Pacific Coast Baptist College, 12-2, in a nonconference game.
A two-run single in the fifth inning by Kingsman designated hitter Bob Ginther snapped a 1-1 tie. Derrick Evans promptly doubled home Ginther to give CLC a 4-1 lead.
Fred Perez homered and singled for CLC while John Egertson and Derrick Evans each had two hits.
