BEIRUT — Two vehicles packed with explosives blew up in a crowded market in a Shia Muslim suburb of Beirut today, killing at least 6 people and wounding 43.
Police in the suburb of Hay Madi said a pickup truck exploded first, bringing rescue workers and ambulances to collect the casualties. Ten minutes later, more explosives in a Mercedes sedan just 30 feet from the pickup detonated. The twin bombings set a nearby furniture factory ablaze and sent shrapnel flying over a wide area, police said.
