A 24-year-old Garden Grove man was killed when the car he was driving struck a freeway maintenance truck on the Garden Grove Freeway, police said. Richard Hamilton died shortly after the 1:30 p.m. accident. Hamilton’s car was traveling east in the left lane of the freeway near Magnolia Street when it drifted into the center divider, where it struck a parked California Department of Transportation truck, according to the Highway Patrol. A worker standing behind the truck just a few feet away, 47-year-old Lanny DeRosa of Westminster, sustained “slight injuries” in the crash, police said. The accident backed up traffic on the freeway more than a mile for about an hour.
