Redlands Has Berth in Division III Tourney
Redlands University, which won the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championship with a 10-2 record, has been awarded a berth in the NCAA Division III basketball tournament at Lincoln, Neb., this weekend.
Redlands (18-8) will meet Central of Iowa (15-8) and Nebraska Wesleyan (18-4) plays St. John’s of Minnesota (16-10) Friday night with the winners meeting Saturday for a berth in the quarterfinals.
Northern Division champion Biola and Southern Division winner Southern California College are the tip-seeded teams for the NAIA District 3 basketball playoffs which start Thursday.
In the opening round, Cal Lutheran plays at Biola, Azusa Pacific is at Westmont, Southern cal College plays host to Fresno Pacific and Point Loma Nazarene entertains Cal Baptist.
The semifinals are Saturday and the championship game March 6, both at Occidental College. The winner qualifies for the NAIA national tournament at Kansas City.
