An undercover probe of drug-dealing in Silicon Valley has led to the arrests of 17 people in connection with on-the-job narcotics sales and abuse at a Santa Clara high technology company. Santa Clara Police Lt. Bruce Lindberg said the arrests were made at Magnetic Peripherals Inc. Four more suspects were being sought by undercover detectives from the police department’s Specific Crimes Action Team. Most of those arrested at Magnetic Peripherals were company workers, but some served only as the “connections” for those seeking to use drugs, Lindberg said. The 17 were arrested on a variety of drug use and possession charges. During a three-month investigation, undercover officers made numerous buys of cocaine, marijuana, and methamphetamine, or speed, Lindberg said.
