Aluminum Output Declines in January

LONDON — Production of primary aluminum by member companies of the International Primary Aluminium Institute fell 1.1% in January from December, but was up 0.4% from January, 1984, the group said.
January’s production was 1.033 million metric tons, compared with 1.045 million tons in December and 1.029 million tons a year earlier, the institute said.
Figures from communist countries are excluded. A metric ton is equal to about 2,204.6 pounds.
