Hospitals in Moscow Quarantined by Flu
Associated Press
MOSCOW — An influenza epidemic sweeping westward from Siberia to European Russia has put all hospitals in Moscow under quarantine, the Soviet Health Ministry reported.
The flu epidemic started in February. A Soviet Health Ministry official reported by telephone that all hospitals in Moscow are under quarantine but did not give any details.
A doctor, V. M. Zhdanov, was quoted in the newspaper as saying this year’s major flu virus is an “A” virus frequently dubbed Hong Kong flu.
