Temple City will use nearly all of its $213,464 federal Community Development Block Grant allocation this year for commercial redevelopment. More than $206,000 has been slated for use in the Rosemead Boulevard Redevelopment Project area, Planning Director Jeff Shaw said. The money is earmarked for property acquisitions on the west side of Rosemead Boulevard north of Las Tunas Drive, where a shopping center is planned, Shaw said. The purchases should begin late this year. Shaw said planning is in the conceptual stage and a developer has not yet been chosen. The remaining $7,000 in block grant funds will go for planning and administration of the program.
