Two guerrillas of the Irish Republican Army who were convicted of killing three people in a wave of London bombings in 1981 were each sentenced to five life terms in prison. Judge Anthony McCowan in Old Bailey criminal court said Paul Kavanagh and Thomas Quigley, both 29, “showed not a spark of compassion” for their victims--two civilians and a British bomb disposal expert. Authorities said Kavanagh also led an IRA squad that bombed Harrod’s department store, killing six, on Dec. 17, 1983.
