Local News in Brief : Girl on Moped Badly Injured in Collision
A 14-year-old Woodland Hills girl suffered severe head injuries Friday afternoon after the moped she was riding collided with a car pulling out of a driveway.
According to Los Angeles police officer Arnold Breitenbach, Brooke Armstrong was riding the moped north on Serrania Avenue in Woodland Hills at 2:05 p.m. when an automobile pulled out of the driveway of a home. The girl hit the side of the car and was thrown from her vehicle, Breitenbach said.
The victim was taken to Childrens Hospital, which specializes in emergency trauma care for children and adolescents, in a Fire Department helicopter ambulance.
Breitenbach said Armstrong had severe head injuries and a possible broken right leg.
The driver of the car was not cited, Breitenbach said.
