Yablans Leaves MGM/UA Post
MGM/UA Entertainment Co. Chairman Frank Rothman said late Monday that MGM films division President Frank Yablans is leaving the Culver City-based company.
In response to a reporter’s query, Rothman confirmed that the decision was reached Monday afternoon. He declined to provide further details.
Yablans’ role at the studio has been the subject of industry speculation since the January 25 announcement that he would no longer oversee the production of United Artists’ films.
On that date, veteran film maker Alan Ladd Jr. was named president and chief executive of United Artists Corp., gaining equal status with Yablans.
