Fallbrook
A 65-year-old “survivalist” from Fallbrook was fined $2,500 and placed on three years probation for possessing 300 marijuana plants in his greenhouse. Bernard Barrein Cook did not receive a jail sentence from U.S. District Court Judge Leland Nielsen, but Cook was ordered to repay the government for his court-appointed attorney. Cook is described as a “survivalist” because a bomb shelter stocked with food for a year was found on his property on Alex Road in Fallbrook. Cook pleaded guilty to conspiracy to possess marijuana with intent to distribute after Narcotics Task Force agents discovered marijuana on his property last September.
