Cal Poly Pomona Women Win
The Cal Poly Pomona’s women’s basketball team, ranked eighth in NCAA Division 2, scored an easy 63-54 victory over second-ranked Chapman Tuesday night in the Western regional championship game in Chapman’s Hutton Sports Center at Orange.
Pomona (23-7) shot 67% in the first half and led, 39-22.
The win moved Cal Poly Pomona into the quarterfinals against St. Cloud of Minnesota.
Forward Vickie Mitchell led Pomona with 20 points.
