Slaten Wins and Loses

Kathy Slaten pitched both games for Cal State Northridge’s softball team as the Lady Matadors split a double-header at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo on Wednesday.
Slaten lost the first game, 3-0, when Jill Hancock hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the sixth inning for Cal Poly. Slaten struck out five.
In the second game, Slaten came back to strike out six as CSUN won, 4-1, in 10 innings. Beth Onesting tied the score at 1-1 in the seventh with a triple. Stacey Kim hit a bases-loaded triple in the top of the tenth to drive in three runs.
Slaten is now 10-3, while CSUN is now 19-7 overall and 5-1 in the California Collegiate Athletic Assn.
