Recycling Program to Award Prizes to Homeowners
Santa Monica Recycle will award prizes to randomly selected households that participate in the curbside collection program during April, May and June.
Deborah G. Baine, the Santa Monica Recycle coordinator, said the promotion is designed to encourage residents to leave cans, glass, newspapers and motor oil on their curbs twice a month for city collectors. Collection dates differ throughout the city.
Prizes will include gift certificates and products and services donated by local merchants.
“We are pleased with the progress our program has made in its first three years but we know there are many residents who have not yet begun recycling,” Baine said. “We believe this promotion will interest and stimulate citizens to recycle and help them get started.”
