Hearing Next Week on Batiquitos Plans
CARLSBAD — Officials with Hunt Properties Inc., the development company owned by Texas silver magnates Nelson Bunker and W. Herbert Hunt, will present their plan to restore Batiquitos Lagoon at a public meeting next Wednesday.
The Hunts plan to build a hotel, golf course and residential community on 1,385 acres they own north of Batiquitos Lagoon. As part of the project, the Hunts hope to use a pumping system to keep water in the lagoon year-round.
In addition to company Vice President D.L. Clemens, speakers will include a hydrologist and a biologist who worked on the lagoon restoration plan. The meeting begins at 7 p.m. at Carlsbad’s Harding Center Auditorium, 3096 Harding St.
