3 Suspects Arrested in Store Thefts
Two Laguna Beach men and an El Toro youth were arrested early Tuesday as suspects in the theft of more than $32,000 in merchandise from a Mission Viejo video and stereo store, sheriff’s officers said.
Rafael L. Rodriguez, 19, and Marcos M. Lagunas, 24, along with a 17-year-old youth, were taken into custody about 5 a.m. by deputies who had the Federated Group store on Marguerite Parkway under surveillance, according to Sheriff’s Lt. Dick Olson.
The stakeout was set up after the store reported that numerous items were found missing during an inventory, Olson said.
Deputies said a van and a car pulled up to the rear of the store about 3:45 a.m. and two men who had climbed onto the roof of the building started passing boxes down to a third person.
