Joe Pepitone, 2 Others Indicted
NEW YORK — Former New York Yankee star first baseman and outfielder Joe Pepitone was indicted today along with two other men on drug and weapon possession charges, a prosecutor’s office announced.
Pepitone, 44, Thomas Carbone, 51, and Robert Oates, 46, were charged with possession of cocaine, depressant pills and drug paraphernalia and with illegal possession of a weapon. They were arrested March 18 when police stopped their car for going through a red light. Pepitone, who was freed on $15,000 bail after pleading innocent to a criminal complaint March 20, faces up to life in prison if convicted of the most serious charge, possession of four ounces of cocaine.
