SAN DIEGO — Holiday Bowl officials will be searching for a new television contract after the Mizlou Television Network decided not to renew its contract, it was announced Friday.
“Network television is probably a longshot at this point,” said John Reid, the Holiday Bowl’s executive director. “For the first time, we can now check the marketplace. There are a lot of good opportunities available. We can check them out and weigh one against the other. We’ll find something.”
The Holiday Bowl matches the Western Athletic Conference champion against an at-large team each December in San Diego Jack Murphy Stadium. Brigham Young University was voted the national champion last year after beating Michigan, 21-14, in the Holiday Bowl.
