Nicaraguan Vice President Sergio Ramirez appealed to Latin American nations and the American people to resist President Reagan’s trade embargo against the Sandinista-ruled nation. In a television address, Ramirez called upon Latin nations to come to his country’s support, and he urged the U.S. Congress and the American people to “stop the escalation of the war that President Reagan has unleashed against Nicaragua.” Meanwhile, Nicaragua recalled its U.S. ambassador, Carlos Tunnermann, for consultations.
