Shoemaker Wins L.A. Handicap on Charging Falls

Charging Falls drove into the lead entering the stretch Saturday and narrowly won the $82,400 Los Angeles Handicap at Hollywood Park.
Ridden by Bill Shoemaker, Charging Falls finished a nose in front of Fifty Six Ina Row, ridden by Martin Pedroza. The time of 1:08 4/5 for six furlongs set a track record for the new racing strip.
Sent off the second choice, Charging Falls paid $9.80, $4.80 and $3.40. Fifty Six Ina Row returned $5.80 and $3.60. Premiership paid $5.20 to show.
