Father Surrenders in Baby’s Beating
A South-Central Los Angeles man sought in the beating of his 6-month-old daughter surrendered to authorities late Thursday and was booked for investigation of attempted murder, police said.
Louis Broussard, 21, surrendered at Park Center downtown, said Lt. Connie Castruita of the Police Department’s Child Abuse unit.
Broussard allegedly argued with his estranged wife, Mira Batson, 20, late Wednesday night and then attacked his daughter, Lauren, who was in critical condition at Martin Luther King Jr. General Hospital.
Broussard grabbed the baby from a bed, struck her violently on the head with his hand and deliberately threw her down, police allege.
The child suffered a fractured skull and other serious injuries.
