Ad-Towing Plane Crashes in Ocean

A light plane towing an advertising banner crashed into the Pacific near Manhattan Beach Pier early Friday evening, leaving only an oil slick to show where it went down, authorities said.
A Coast Guard helicopter, three boats--including two Bay Watch harbor patrol boats from Redondo Beach Marina--and county lifeguard divers searched but found no sign of survivors or wreckage, Manhattan Beach Fire Department Capt. Manny Navarro said.
