Good weather in the past week enabled farmers to made the gains in planting the 1985 crop, a new Agriculture Department survey showed. By Sunday, an estimated 78% of the intended acreage was planted nationally, up from 46% on May 5, the weekly report said. Huge gains were made in the Corn Belt. Abut 90% of the Iowa corn crop, for example, was planted as of May 12, up from 55% a week earlier.
