Andries Raditsela, the black South African labor leader who died of head injuries after two days in police custody, was buried without incident in Tsakane, and hundreds of thousands of black workers in nearby Johannesburg held noontime memorial services for him. Raditsela, 30, was hailed as another martyr in the struggle against apartheid. But his labor federation’s call for a one-day general strike in Transvaal province was largely ignored.
