Jerry Gray Won’t Practice With Rams Until He Signs
Jerry Gray, the Rams’ first-round draft choice, does not plan to work out with the team until he has signed a contract.
The defensive back from Texas participated in a non-contact spring drill Wednesday at Rams Park but did not practice Thursday, on the advice of his agent, Calvin Guidry, who preferred that his client not risk an injury. Sessions will continue through next Thursday.
Guidry, president of Champion Players Inc. of Austin, Tex., said: “We have an understanding. (The Rams are) a very good organization to work with.”
He also said that negotiations may be extended. “We want to see what’s going on with the other (first-round) guys.”
Last week, punter Dale Hatcher, the third-round pick from Clemson, also merely watched workouts for two days on the advice of his agent, Paul Schoonover of Dallas, for the same reason.
