Muse, Southwest Merger OKd

WASHINGTON — The Justice Department today approved the merger of Muse Air Corp. with Southwest Airlines Co., saying that without the deal Muse may not be able to meet next month’s financial obligations.
The airlines are based in Dallas. The department said that it was approving the merger because of Muse’s poor financial condition and that it was leaving unresolved the question of whether merger would have any anti-competitive effects.
