Pleas of innocent and innocent by reason of insanity were withdrawn in Monterey County Superior Court by a Carson City, Nev., man who then admitted kidnaping, molesting and trying to murder the 8-year-old daughter of a friend in Modesto. Larry Edward Dowler, 38, reversed his pleas during a pre-trial hearing because he did not want the girl to have to go through further court ordeal, said public defender John Grises. Angela May Endicott was abducted as her parents slept last Nov. 11, was choked and left for dead in an irrigation pipe buried three feet underground. Dowler subsequently led officers to the girl, who was dazed and in shock. Dowler also faces trial in Nevada on a complaint that he kidnaped and raped his 8-year-old stepdaughter.
