Carson
Protests against proposed changes in Carson’s strict mobile home rent control ordinance prompted city officials to delay consideration of the matter until another proposal is offered by the city staff.
Nearly 100 mobile home residents attended a meeting this week to urge the Carson City Council to vote down the rent control ordinance changes, which they said would have resulted in higher rents.
The changes would have clarified ordinance definitions of what is considered a capital improvement. While many agreed that the ordinance is ambiguous on the matter, mobile home residents said that new wording would cause residents to be billed through capital improvement provisions for what they considered everyday repairs and maintenance.
Park owners and city staff supported the changes, saying they would lead to a more equitable rent control.
