GUATEMALA CITY — Guatemalan general elections will be held Nov. 3, one week later than originally scheduled, according to a government decree published Friday.
If required, a runoff round of elections for a president, vice-president and National Assembly will be held on Dec. 8, also a week later than scheduled, the decree said.
A government spokesman explained that the change was made to avoid the rainy season that generally runs from May to October.
