SEOUL, South Korea — South and North Korean Red Cross officials met for the first time in 12 years today and reopened talks on reuniting 10 million people whose families broke up when the country was divided in 1945.
The 84-member North Korean delegation will return home Thursday. It was the first time since 1973 that a North Korean Red Cross team traveled to Seoul. The two sides agreed to revive negotiations after South Korea accepted North Korean-offered relief goods for flood victims last September.
