A former opera singer, already on probation for trying to counterfeit money orders, has been ordered to stand trial on charges of stealing more than $300,000 from three investors. Gloria Giannini, former owner of a now-bankrupt real estate chain, was bound over for trial on six counts of grand theft, fraud and attempted grand theft. The former Oakland resident, who now lives in San Bernardino, remains free on $10,000 bail pending arraignment in Alameda County Superior Court June 6. Investors from San Francisco, Woodland and Oakland testified that they loaned Giannini money in 1981 and 1982 on the basis of false or forged documents and misstatements.
