A 20-year-old Canadian transient was sentenced in Los Angeles Superior Court to from 16 years and 8 months to life in state prison for the beating-stabbing death last May of Lee Beaupre, 42, the West Coast publicity director for 20th Century Fox Pictures. Joseph Mitchell, who had been living with Beaupre for about a month as the victim’s homosexual lover, testified that he went into a drug-induced rage hours after the two had attended a screening of the film “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.” Mitchell, who attacked Beaupre with a frying pan, a rolling pin and a butcher knife, said that the victim taunted him about being unemployed.
