Anaheim : 2 Held After Stakeout at Electronics Firm

A stakeout by a dozen police officers Monday netted two men suspected of stealing more than $100,000 in computer parts from an Anaheim electronics company.

Police Sgt. Jack Jansen said the stakeout began after Ed Carter, owner of California Electronics at 3061 E. Coronado St., stopped by his office at about 9:30 a.m. Sunday and noticed tampering.

“It was just providence because I don’t come in most days,” Carter said. “I noticed that the alarm had been tampered with and that they had shut off the power lines. Then I started trying to send out telexes over the phone lines and found that they had sabotaged everything.

“I was a little worried because I didn’t know if they were staking out the building while I was there.”

Carter called police, who sent 12 officers to begin the stakeout.

About 2:30 a.m. Monday, two men in a Datsun pickup truck arrived and one man pried open a door to the building, Jansen said. An hour later, they returned and entered through the pried door. Police arrested them as they were leaving. Stacked inside the door of the business were boxes of computer disk drives, integrated circuits and other electronic components valued at more than $100,000, Jansen said.

Tujunga resident David Lee Madison, 22, and Cheng Wuang Tang, 30, of Monterey Park were booked into Anaheim City Jail on suspicion of burglary. Bail was set at $150,00.
