Ross Junior High Wins Award, $5,000 in Statewide Contest
ARTESIA — Faye Ross Junior High in the ABC Unified School District has been named the top winner in the state Department of Education’s “Staying Well--The Chance of a Lifetime” contest. The school will receive a cash grant of $5,000 funded by Citicorp to enhance and promote an ongoing “Staying Well” program at the school.
Projects at Ross focusing on physical, emotional and mental health have included suicide prevention and weight control programs, diabetes and nutrition clinics, cardiopulmonary resuscitation classes and a “Buckle Up” campaign. The school is at 17707 S. Elaine Ave.
