Central Coast Plaza to Have Indoor Mall : Enclosed Shopping Area to Be First in San Luis Obispo
Construction will begin next fall in San Luis Obispo on the $40-million, mixed-use Central Coast Plaza, which the developer, Trojan Enterprises of Glendora, says will include the first and only enclosed shopping mall in San Luis Obispo County.
The center will contain 264,164 square feet of retail space, a figure that includes the 74,000-square-foot, one-story Gottschalk’s department store with an 8,000-square-foot mezzanine, but not the 193-suite Park Suite Hotel, co-developed by Laral Hotels of Avila Beach. Architect of all buildings in the center is Millard Archuleta Associates of Los Angeles.
The Gottschalk’s store will be in the northern portion of the 26-acre site at El Camino Real (U. S. 101 and California 1) and Madonna Road, at the opposite end of the mall from the hotel. The contractor is Nuhahn Inc. of Harbor City. The retail facilities are expected to be completed in the second quarter of 1986.
