Irvine Council OKs 833-Acre Development
The Irvine City Council has approved the development of Westpark, an 833-acre project that will be the first major residential community planned in that city since the development of Woodbridge began in 1976.
To be developed by the Irvine Co. over several years, Westpark will combine residential neighborhoods with commercial centers, parks, plazas and recreation area as well as the planned Irvine Civic Center, which will contain the city hall, police station and other city facilities.
Housing both for sale and rent is planned in the $80,000 to $150,000 price range. The project, between Woodbridge and the Irvine Business Center, is bounded by the San Diego Freeway, Cuylver Drive, Barranca Parkway and the San Diego/Peters Canyon Wash.
