Lorimar Inc., reinforcing its announced intention to acquire broadcast properties, announced that Alan J. Bell, former vice president and general manager of KTVU-TV in San Francisco, has been named a senior executive vice president.
Culver City-based Lorimar said Bell’s experience with network affiliates and independent stations will “enhance our ability to capitalize upon opportunities in the broadcast area.”
In addition to serving at KTVU, where he was vice president of the independent station owned by Cox Communications, Bell, 52, spent a decade at Westinghouse, where he was general manager of two of its network affiliates. Before that, he was with Metromedia, including a stint as assistant general manager of KTTV-Channel 11 in Los Angeles.
Lorimar in April made an unsuccessful $1-billion bid for Greenville, S.C.-based Multimedia Inc.
