The Nation : Curb on Exports Restored

Both houses of Congress voted to restore to the law books presidential power to control exports of high-tech products and other militarily useful goods that might end up in the Soviet Bloc. The House and Senate each gave voice-vote approval to a four-year extension of the 1979 Export Administration Act, ending what Sen. John Heinz (R-Pa.) called “innumerable, interminable” negotiations. President Reagan, who has wielded power over exports under an emergency declaration since April, 1984, was expected to sign the measure.
