An Instruction in Humanity

In his column of June 6, Jack Smith wrote of attending a concert of the Highland Park Symphony Orchestra. During the performance a dog wandered on and a baby cried. OK, but he enjoyed it--not for its deficiencies but for the positive parts--a live community orchestra, a valiant soloist and the fact that he does not choose to magnify every interruption, and demean the audience.
Live theater, music, dance-- all artistic endeavors are under enormous pressure today--due not only to the economics of production costs but because of the staggering pressure of competing against the world in the living room--via television!
Perhaps your own professional writer/critics could learn from Mr. Smith’s humanity.
