Earlier Public Hearings: The City Council has decided to advance by one hour its scheduled time for public hearings. The move from 7 p.m. to 6 p.m. will eliminate nearly an hour of free time between the end of scheduled council meetings and the beginning of public hearings, City Clerk Alcene Cain said. Some work sessions that formerly were scheduled between 6 and 7 now will take place after public hearings. The council made the schedule change at its July 15 meeting and will pass an ordinance formalizing the decision at its next meeting Aug. 5. Regular council meetings take place on the first and third Mondays of each month at 4:30 p.m.
