Murder Charges Filed in Double Slaying
Murder charges were filed Friday against a North Hollywood man being sought in the killing of two companions after an argument Sunday night over the results of an all-day card game.
Manual Ballanes, 31, was charged with the fatal shooting of Raul Cortez, 28, and Roberto Maldonado, 38, Deputy Dist. Atty. Dan Bershin said.
The victims, who both were shot in the upper chest, were found about 10 p.m. in an apartment in the 7900 block of De Garmo Avenue in North Hollywood, Lt. Ron LaRue said.
Ballanes, who lived near the murder scene, has not returned home since the killings, LaRue said.
