Sweetwater Coach Zarecky to Become USIU Basketball Coach, Assistant A.D.

SAN DIEGO —  Gary Zarecky, coach at Sweetwater High for 13 seasons, has been named men’s basketball coach and assistant athletic director at United States International University. Zarecky replaces Freddie Goss, who resigned in June. Zarecky had a 236-110 record at Sweetwater, which won the 2-A San Diego Section CIF championship in the 1979-80 season.

Steve Salvo, a former women’s basketball assistant coach at San Diego State, was named assistant coach at USIU. Previously, Salvo coached the U.S. Marine team and the Birmingham Bullets, a professional team in England.
