The Philadelphia Eagles traded running back Wilbert Montgomery to the Detroit Lions for free agent linebacker Garry Cobb.
The trade was made possible because Cobb, 28, came to terms with the Eagles and Montgomery, 30, passed the Lions’ physical. Montgomery was a training-camp holdout and had recurring knee problems.
