Eight persons died when a Bar Harbor Airlines plane crashed in Maine, near the Auburn-Lewiston Airport, police said. The Beechcraft 99 jet crashed about a half-mile from the airport, which is 30 miles north of Portland. “We have eight fatalities,” Auburn Police Lt. Norman Guerette said. “We have no report that anyone is alive.” The airline said Flight 1808 originated in Boston and was bound for Bangor, with stops in Augusta and Waterville. The cause of the crash was under investigation.
