Fire Guts Publishing Firm
FALLBROOK — A three-alarm fire destroyed a publishing company building early Sunday, sheriff’s deputies said. Firefighters from Vista, San Marcos, Oceanside, Camp Pendleton, Rainbow, Escondido and Fallbrook fought the 2:30 a.m. blaze in the 300 block of West Aviation Road.
Damage to the Aero Publishing Inc. building and contents, owned by Fallbrook resident Ernest Gentle, was estimated at $800,000.
San Diego County sheriff’s deputies said it took four hours to put out the flames in the 15,000-square-foot building, where Gentle had printed books on aviation and space for 20 years. Gentle said the building space had just been leased to outside commercial printers Saturday. He said he plans to rebuild.
The arson detail from the Sheriff’s Department is investigating the fire.
